Today is Holy Cross Day. Although I usually have an appreciation for the festivals of the Church year, there are a few I have never really appreciated. Holy Cross Day is one of them. For Catholics and the Orthodox, it is veneration of the Cross itself. For Non Liturgical churches, it is not acknowledged. For Lutherans, Every day should be Cross Focused anyway.
We already Celebrate Christ's Work on the Cross every day. We specifically recognize it on Good Friday. Today simply marks the "finding" of the "True Cross" for those who care about relics.
For this Man, today is Holy Cross Day. Not to celebrate or venerate the cross itself. But to Thank and Praise God for the Mercy and Grace He showed the World through his son's Death on the cross. Of course, by that definition, yesterday was also Holy Cross day. Tomorrow will be too, and the next day, and the next .......
